Hello again, and welcome to our ABOUT US page.
This is where we get to tell you, honestly and openly, who we are.
We are a husband and wife team based out of West Plains, Missouri, soon to be northern Florida.
As children my husband and I did not have our own horses, but we did have involvement with them. My husband's neighbor had horses that he spent time with as a child, and I was blessed with the opportunity to work with horses at my Uncle's Camp for Cancer Children. My mother and father would also take me to the local stables that offered 1 hour trail rides just down the street from our house.
My parents always knew how to put a smile on my face.
7 years ago, my husband and I decided to go and look for 2 horses to purchase. Needless to say, over the next 2 months we both got to see most of sunny Florida along with over 100 horses.
One night at the dinner table I asked him if we could go back and purchase the horses that were neglected, starved, and abused. He asked me if that was what I truly wanted and I said yes. There it all started. 4 1/2 years later we had rescued, rehabilitated, and placed over 400 horses in homes. Of course, who do you think transported all of them to and from..... we did.
After selling our farm in Florida we moved to Missouri where we got involved with Gypsy Horses. For 2 years we transported Gypsy Horses from one side of the US to the other for our partner in Phoenix.
In November of 07, we decided to do horse transport full time. With all the experience we gained from the years of rescue and the two years of transporting Gypsy Horses, we felt we were more than qualified to offer our services to the public.
So, here we are, owning and operating a horse transportation company. We are dedicated individuals who offers quality, not quantity, and provide personal care. Through our experiences with the rescue we have handled most breeds, stallions, mares in foal, weanlings, etc.
We felt that the best service deserved the best equiptment, which in this case meant buying new. It cuts down on the chances of being stranded on the side of the road and minimizes accidents in the trailer from old, faulty equiptment. So in deciding this we purchased a 2007 (leftover) Dodge Dually and a 2008 4 horse head to head. This particular trailer can accomodate warmbloods, drafts, and TB's and can be used as a straight load or set up into 3 individual box stalls.
Once obtaining our equiptment, we started developing some ground rules. First came the choice of us providing hay or obtaining hay from the clients. We all know that traveling for a horse is strenous enough, but then go and feed an unfamiliar hay and you are just asking for trouble. So we ask that the horses daily diet not change. Any horse that travels with us is given hay and water at all times, this will keep the digestive track moving. We stop every 3 to 4 hours to check on the horses, you can never be to careful. And last but not least, our horses spend no more than 12 hours in the trailer and are unloaded each night at safe & secure boarding facilities across the USA for a good nights rest. We all deserve that after a long day.
EVERY horse that travels with us is our FIRST PRIORITY.
Most people would think writing all this is "not business like", but if us being open and honest enables you to feel more comfortable, than it was well worth it. We are not here just to make a living, we are here for the horses and their owners,
being real people, providing an honest service.
Now that you've learned about us,
we'd love to hear from you and have you become part of our family.
